While reading the earlier minutes, I benefited from being able to discuss them with my father whose local knowledge extended much further back than his membership of the lodge. Ready access to the library and archives of Grand Lodge has produced some interesting sidelights on matters only cursorily dealt with in the lodge's own records. The archives of Supreme Grand Chapter yielded information used in Appendix Five. I am grateful to John Sinclair,P.M., for giving me a copy of the Centenary Brochure which, although its history is unreliable, has considerable interest for its photographs. I am also grateful to George Swanson,P.M., for keeping me in touch with the affairs of the lodge during the last thirty years, during which time I have seldom been able to attend.
